Family
One of the most important things for you to consider when moving abroad will be your family. If you are single, without any ties or dependents and your immediate family are in good health then the likelihood is that your main focus will be on building your new life overseas. You will doubtless want to keep in touch with loved ones at home, but your transition will probably be more straightforward than those with partners and other dependents.
If you do a partner and dependents, it need not be problematic and we’ll take you through all the things that you will need to take into account, when considering moving out of your home country. Generally speaking, the things that you will need to consider are:
- Sponsorship
- Marital status
- Accommodation costs
- Work, social opportunities and education for your dependents
Spouses and unmarried partners
For many jobs abroad, your offer of employment will carry either a single or married status. With a married status contract, sponsorship for yourself and family, together with a range of additional benefits such as private health care will be provided. With jobs offering a single status contract, it may still be possible for you to sponsor your spouse.
Please be aware that in some countries, they may not recognise civil partnerships.
This is something that you need to carefully assess before accepting a job offer as the situation will vary dependent upon both the country you will be moving to and the policy of your employer.
